This October, an incredible evening of music is set to fill Flint with a message of unity and hope. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 18, 2025, and join us at the Mott Memorial Building Auditorium for a night that promises to be as inspiring as it is entertaining.
An Evening of Stringed Performances
This year’s festival brings together four phenomenal acts, each offering a unique and captivating performance:
Reverend Robert Jones: Get ready for an inspirational journey through the history of American Roots music. Reverend Jones is a masterful storyteller, singer, and instrumentalist whose love for spirituals, gospel, and the blues shines through in every note. As a Kresge Arts Fellow and co-founder of the non-profit “Common Chords,” his music aims to build bridges and unite communities.
Stephanie Monear: Often called “the voice of Flint,” Stephanie Monear’s eclectic talent spans jazz, big band, and soulful torch songs. Accompanied by the renowned jazz pianist Cliff Monear, her performance is sure to be a highlight of the evening.
Sheldon Low: Bringing a vibrant, worldwide style to the stage, New York-based Sheldon Low is one of the most celebrated artists in contemporary Jewish music today. His powerful and uplifting performances have captivated audiences across the globe.
The Dort Honors String Quartet: Prepare to be moved as the evening opens with the classical brilliance of four exceptionally talented high school musicians from the Flint School of the Performing Arts. Their performance is a testament to the bright future of music in our community.
More Than a Concert: A Legacy of Hope
The Humanity in Harmony Music Festival is more than just a performance; it’s a tribute to the enduring spirit of journalist and musician Daniel Pearl. A respected reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Daniel was also an accomplished violinist who believed in the power of music to connect people. After his tragic murder in 2002, his family created Daniel Pearl World Music Days to honor his memory by celebrating what he loved, not the way he died.
We are proud that the Humanity in Harmony Music Festival is the only Daniel Pearl World Music Days event in Michigan, carrying on his legacy of using music to foster tolerance and friendship.
